Gas/Oil-fired
- Independent engineering and plant assessments for transactions involving combustion turbine and combined cycle plants in the US, New Zealand, Italy, Ireland, Turkey, The Netherlands, Germany and Austria, ranging in size from 68 MW to 1,675 MW.
- A/E of Record, design engineer and Owner’s Engineer on numerous Greenfield and Retrofit simple cycle and combined cycle projects utilizing all makes and vintages of aero derivative and frame engines.
Coal-fired
- Due diligence assessments in support of the sale or purchase of coal-fired generating stations, either as individual assets or as part of a corporate acquisition for clients operating, acquiring or divesting such facilities in the US, Australia, South Africa, Ireland, The Netherlands and Germany, ranging in size from large plants such as the 4,000 MW Drax station in the United Kingdom, to much smaller units under 100 MW.
- Design assessments and retrofits for coal-fired plants in the US firing a variety of coal types and of varying sizes and technology vintages.
Cogeneration
- Engineering and advisory projects for a variety of fuels including coal and natural gas and a variety of prime movers including fluidized bed and conventional boilers, combustion turbines and gas-fired reciprocating engines.
Waste-to-Energy
- Due diligence assessments for waste-to-energy plants of various sizes that fire all types of municipal and industrial waste for transactions in the Netherlands, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Belgium and the US.
- In the US and Canada, Sigma has supported the development and implementation of a number of greenfield waste-to-energy facilities sponsored by Covanta Energy, one of the leading developers of waste-to-energy facilities.
Hydroelectric
- Assessments of power station groups and their associated water collection, storage and conveyance systems, including major dams and reservoirs, secondary intakes, diversion dams, compensation basins, free flow and power tunnels, penstocks, and rivers and streams for assets in the U.S., Switzerland, Austria, Turkey and Norway dating from the early 1900's to new facilities commissioned in the late 1990’s.
- Environmental and regulatory compliance reviews and evaluations to determine current and projected operating and water right concessions and federal/provincial dam safety requirement compliance.
